COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore thrower Candis Kelley has been tabbed as the Mountain West Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

A native of College Station, Texas, Kelley set a personal best in the shot put and hit her second NCAA provisional mark of the season with a toss of 50-06.25 (15.40m) at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 10.

Kelley's toss was the 25th-longest throw in the country and longest in the conference this season.

The throw earned Kelley an eighth-place finish in the event and earned her first NCAA provisional distance since having a toss of 50-04.50 (15.35m) at the Texas Tech Open on Feb. 3.

On the year, Kelley has won the shot put title in two of four meets. Last season, Kelley won the shot put at both the MWC Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

The honor for TCU is its second of the season and first since Virgil Hodge received MWC Athlete of the Week accolades on Jan. 23.

The Flyin' Frogs will return to the track Feb. 23-24 at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
