The TCU Flyin' Frogs took advantage of warm weather, the familiarity of their own track and the backing of a partisan crowd to record four NCAA automatic and eight provisional marks at the Third Annual TCU Invitational presented by Smoothie King, at the Lowdon Track Complex in Fort Worth on Saturday.

As usual, the Frogs were impressive in the sprints and relays, but it was the long jump that turned heads on Saturday.

Freshman sensation Cleavon Dillon posted a personal-best mark of 8.01 meters to win the event, edging Aundre Edwards, who turned in a personal-best mark of 8.00 meters, both well above the NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7.95 meters. Jumping unattached, former Horned Frog Darvis Patton, who holds the TCU record at 8.04 meters, turned in a tremendous leap of 8.40 meters, the second longest jump in the world this season.

Brandal Lawrence gave the Frogs a sweep of the vertical jumps as he took top honors in the triple jump. The junior from Dallas recorded an NCAA provisional mark of 15.76 meters to win the event.

In the sprints, sophomore Michael Frater got the crowd on its feat with a personal best, NCAA automatic time and meet record time of 10.05 seconds in winning the 100-meter dash. Kimton Coleman posted an NCAA provisional mark in the race with a season-best time of 10.29 seconds to finish second.

The Frogs went one-two-three in the 200 meter dash, all under NCAA standards. Steve Slowly won the race in a meet record, NCAA automatic time and career-best time of 20.27. Jermaine Joseph (20.70) and Kimton Coleman (20.78) took second and third respectively, bettering the NCAA provisional standard.

The men's 4x100 meter relay did not have their best day of the season, but turned in an NCAA provisional mark of 39.79 seconds to win the race. Other TCU winners on the men's side included Terrance McBryde in the 400 (46.83) and the 4x400 meter relay (3:08.61).

Monica Twum and freshman La' Toya White became the first individuals on the women's side to record NCAA provisional marks for TCU this season when they finished one-two in the 100-meter dash. Twum won the race in 11.45 seconds, while White posted a time of 11.55.

The women's 4x100 meter relay defended its title in the meet with a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 44.63. The quartet of White, Chaunte Baldwin, Tiffany Starts and Twum circled the track in 11 hundreths of a second faster than their previous best mark this season.

Other winners on the women's side included Larissa Bakasa in the 400 (55.07), Perhona Tomlin in the 800 (2:11.55) and the 4x400 meter relay team (3:40.85).

"It was a very good day," said TCU Head Coach Monte Stratton. "It was ideal weather for the sprinters and the same kind of weather we'll face in Baton Rouge in early June (at the NCAA Outdoor Championships). The 100, 200 and long jump events went beyond expectations. I was pleased with the competitiveness of the women's relays and the men's 4x4. I was disappointed with the men's 4x1. We can do so much better than that. We ran Slowly first and had Frater run second to take advantage of his top-end speed. The first exchange and the third exchange were rough. We will improve on that," he guaranteed.

The Frogs resume action next weekend when they travel to Philadelphia to take part in the 108th running of the Penn Relays.
