With a home crowd behind them, the TCU men's and women's track and field squads put on quite a display on Saturday in the 4th Annual TCU Invitational, held at the Lowdon Track Complex on the TCU campus. The Flyin' Frogs recorded a season-best 20 NCAA Regional qualifying marks during the afternoon's meet.

"The weather cooperated and we had a very good meet," said TCU Head Coach Monte Stratton. "The women may have had their best meet from top to bottom in the eight years since I've been at TCU. The men looked much better this week and showed a glimpse of the team they are capable of becoming. I was especially pleased with the 4x1 squad that turned in a 39.53 without (all-American) Michael Frater. That was impressive and bodes well for the near future," added Stratton.

Turning in first place performances for the Flyin' Frogs were Monica Twum in the 100, Brandon Simpson in the 400, Jackson Langat in the 800, Reggie Harrell in the 110m hurdles, Julie Curtis in the 400m hurdles, Aundre Edwards in the long jump, Brandal Lawrence in the triple jump, the women's 4x100 meter relay team and the men's 4x400 meter relay team.

A highlight of the meet was the men's 4x100 meter relay. A quartet of TCU "Exes" - Lindel Frater, Kim Collins, Darvis Patton and Ricardo "Flash" Williams - circled the track in a meet record time of 38.77 seconds, ahead of the current TCU foursome of David Spencer, Jabari Fields, Jerry Harris and Jermaine Joseph, which posted a season-best mark of 39.53. In one of the more highly anticipated races of the day, Patton set a meet record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 9.97 seconds to outrun Frater (10.10) and Mississippi State's Marquis Davis (10.11), the nation's second-ranked collegiate 100-meter sprinter.

The Frogs are in action again next week as they travel to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays.
