Austin, Texas - Bradley Reed advanced to the finals of the men's 100 meter dash and ran a leg on TCU's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams that advanced into Saturday's finals as well, as the third day of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays came to a close on Friday.

Reed, a freshman from Greenville, Texas, ran a regional-qualifying time of 10.44 seconds to place fifth in the 100 meter prelims. On Saturday Reed will try to become the first TCU sprinter since Lindel Frater (1999 and 2000) to win the Texas Relays' university division 100 meter dash.

The Flyin' Frogs 4x100 meter relay team of Otis McDaniel, Jay Cooper, Reed and Cleavon Dillon turned in their best effort of the season, running a regional-qualifying time of 40.09 to place ninth in the prelims and a spot in Saturday's finals. The quartet finished just ahead of Texas, Texas Tech and Nebraska. TCU has produced nine Texas Relays 4x1 titles, including a recent three-year run from 1999-2001

In the men's 4x400 meter relay prelims, the TCU foursome of Brett Wilson, Reed, Jacob Hernandez and Jackson Langat turned in an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 3:08.00 to finish third behind only Florida State (3:06.15) and Jackson State (3:06.24). TCU will be looking for its first Texas Relays title in the men's 4x400 meter relay on Saturday.

"Overall it wasn't a great day, but it wasn't bad either," said TCU head coach Darryl Anderson. "We got some things accomplished on the men's side and the women held their own. Bradley Reed had a big day," noted Anderson. "He was in three events and made three finals. I was pleased with the men's mile relay. We handled (Conference USA rival) Houston from wire-to-wire. It was good for those three freshmen to make the finals in the 4x1," continued Anderson. "We will be running in lane one tomorrow, but regardless of the outcome, it's good to be in the race."

The TCU women turned in a pair of regional qualifying marks in the relay events, but were unable to advance to Saturday's finals in a highly-competitive field. The 4x100 meter relay unit of Nathandra John, Deborah Jones, Jamee Jones and Kandis Bell clocked a 45.62 to place 14th overall. The 4x400 meter relay squad of John, Jamee Jones, Jordan Durham and Deborah Jones placed 12th with a season-best time of 3:38.92, the sixth best time in TCU history.

Other Frogs competing in the running events on Friday included Otis McDaniel (16th-10.65) and Jay Cooper (33rd-10.81) in the men's 100 meter dash; Kandis Bell (18th-11.82) and Jamee Jones (26th-11.93) in the women's 100 meter dash; and MaKeatha Cooper (20th-14.04) and Mary Minor (55th-14.86) in the women's 100 meter hurdles.

In the field events, senior Cleavon Dillon placed ninth in the "A" section of the long jump with a best leap of 7.45 meters (24-05.50). Joe Brown placed 10th in the "B" section of the javelin with a best toss of 59.88 meters (196-05). JimAnne Baker did not have a legal jump in the women's long jump competition. Zelma Wade fouled on all three attempts in the discus.

The 78th running of the Texas Relays wraps up on Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
