Flyin' Frogs Open Outdoor Season in Waco
March 22, 2003
The TCU men's and women's track & field teams opened the 2003 outdoor season in the Dr Pepper Invitational at the Hart/Patterson Complex on the University of Baylor campus Saturday. The Frogs competed against host Baylor, Northwood, Tarleton State and North Texas.
The Frogs posted qualifying marks in three events for the NCAA Midwest Regional, which will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 30 and 31. The Frogs received regional qualifying marks from Brandon Simpson in the 400 meters and from both the men's and women's 4x100 meter relay units. Simpson posted a winning time of 45.86 seconds, while the relay units posted winning marks of 40.20 and 44.70 respectively.
"It's good to be outside," said TCU Head Coach Monte Stratton. "The first meet of the season gives us a starting point and something to work off of for the remainder of the season. We had some good performances, but I believe we have better days ahead."
The Frogs are in action again next Saturday when they travel to Houston to take part in the Tom Tellez Invitational.
