FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The men's 4x400 relay blazed to a runner-up performance to lead the TCU men to a 12th-place finish overall at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

"We ended up doing really well today. We came really close to winning the 4x400 today. I am excited about it, but at the same time we could've won it," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "Overall, we are pleased with how we did. Everybody we brought here made All-American and it doesn't get much better then that."

The 4x400 unit of Che Chavez, Dell Guy, Clemore Henry and Matthew Love earned runner-up honors by clocking a season best time of 3:06.19 seconds. The quartet just missed being crowned National Champions as Baylor won the event by posting a time of 3:05.66.

Other highlights on the day included, Jonathan Jackson who earned All-American honors by soaring 16.32m (53-06.50) to finish third overall in the men's triple jump. Jackson, who's mark broke his own school record, is now a two-time All-American in the triple jump after placing third last season at the NCAA Outdoors. On the women's side, Neidra Covington, who placed ninth overall in the long jump on Friday, soared 13.04m (42-09.50) to finish eighth in her flight and 14th overall in the event.

Overall, TCU posted its highest finish on the men's side at the NCAA Indoors since 2004, while also recording its fourth highest finish in program history at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Flyin' Frogs finished the NCAA's with 14 points. Arizona State won the NCAA Championship with 44 points. On the women's side, TCU finished 56th overall with two points. The Sun Devils also won the women's National Championship with 51 points.

"On the men's side, we finished 12th as a team and that is outstanding from where we were three weeks ago. Now the weather is going to warm up and we are going to be able to put some training together on a consistent basis. The women's team will get better. We just need to get back to the track and prepare for the outdoor season," said Anderson.

On Friday, senior Virgil Hodge recorded a season-best time of 23.20 seconds in the finals of the women's 200 meters to finish third in her heat and seventh overall. Hodge finished in seventh-place for the second-consecutive year at the NCAA Indoor Championships and captured her sixth All-America honor.

In the women's long jump, Covington soared 6.22m (20-05.00) to place ninth overall in the event.

TCU will open its outdoor season at home on March 22. The Flyin' Frogs will host the second annual Horned Frog Invitational at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex next Saturday. Teams expected to compete are North Texas and UT-Arlington.
