Langat, Banda advance to finals at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - TCU wrapped up its first day of competition at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by University of Arkansas, with seniors Jackson Langat and Lewis Banda advancing to Saturday's finals. Langat will compete in the 800 meters, while Banda will make a run for the individual title in the 400 meters.

Langat's time of 1:49.77 in the preliminaries of the men's 800 meters was the sixth-best mark in the event, while Banda ran a 45.67 for the third-best time in the 800m preliminaries.

The national meet will conclude Saturday with the relay events. Langat and Banda will join teammates Quincy Butler and sophomore Otis McDaniel in the men's 4x400 meter relay.
