General * The first TCU pole vaulter in recent history, Cody Koontz returns for his second season with the Horned Frogs. * Owns career best marks of 4.70m during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. * Expected to be a contributor again at the conference level after scoring a point for the Frogs in the Conference USA Outdoor Championships a year ago.
2002 * Cleared an indoor best 4.70 meters (15-05.00) at the Tyson Indoor Classic in Fayetteville, Ark. on February 1. * Did not clear the bar at the Conference USA indoor championships. * Best finish during the outdoor season was a tie for fifth at the Texas A&M Invitational on April 13 when he cleared 4.60 meters (15-01.00). * Tied for eighth at the Conference USA outdoor meet on May 11 with a season-best height of 4.70m (15-05.00).
High School * Highly decorated prep athlete who lettered four times in track & field, three times in football, twice in power lifting and once in wrestling at Grapevine High School... graduated in 2001. * Named a finalist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Male Athlete of the Year award. * Named all-district and all-area in track as both a junior and senior...Was a state qualifier. * Was a three-time district champion and a regional champion and state qualifier in the pole vault as a junior. * Set a personal best with a 16-foot vault. * Earned all-district and all-area honors as a senior in football... named the team MVP as a senior after making 55 catches for 800 yards with 13 touchdowns. * Coached by Scott Goodwin.
