Recorded first place finishes in the 4x100 Relay at both the Bobby Lane Invitational and the Horned Frog Invitational... Won the MWC Championship title in the 4x100 Relay and placed second in the 100M... Placed second in the 200M at the MWC Championships with a personal record of 20.75... Finished third in the 4x100 Relay at both the Penn Relays and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational... In Indoor, competed in the 60M... Finished fourth at the MWC Championships... Placed eighth at the Texas A&M Reveille and 16th at the Razorback Invitational.

2010

During the indoor season, Barnes' top-showing was a fourth-place outing in both the 600 and 200 meters at the Lobo Challenge ... He finished seventh overall at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in both the 60 and 200 meters ... Barnes came on late in the year to tally a spot in the NCAA preliminary round in the 100 meters ... The sophomore broke out at the conference outdoor championships, crossing the finish line in fourth-place with a seasonal-best time of 10.41 seconds ... Barnes also competed in the 200 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary Round after turning in a fifth-place showing at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships in the event with a seasonal-best time of 21.03 seconds ... Was a key component on the men's 4x100 that ranked in the world rankings for the majority of the outdoor season after clocking a seasonal-best time of 39.20 seconds at the Texas Relays to place second overall ... Helped the quartet bring back conference championships accolades in the event with a time of 39.69 seconds at the MWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Closed out his freshman season collecting All-America honors as part of the men's 4x100 that placed eighth overall with a time of 39.50 seconds at the NCAA Championships ... Placed fourth overall in the 100 meters at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships with a personal-best time of 10.38 seconds ... Competed in the 200 meters at the Midwest Regional, clocking a personal-best time of 20.84 seconds ... Overall, posted regional qualifying marks in both the 100 and 200 meters during the outdoor season ... Finished in second-place in the 60 meters at the MWC Indoor Championships, while also clocking a runner-up performance in the 200 at the conference championships.

Barnes was one of the top track and field athletes in the state of Texas ... The freshman finished third in the 100 and second in the 200, respectively, at the 2008 state meet ... Barnes' top-times posted were 10.39 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.06 seconds in the 200 meters ... He was also a member of a 4x100 unit that led the nation with a time of 40.56 seconds in 2007 ... His 4x200 unit finished 2007 with the nations third-best time, clocking a time of 1:24.09.
