  • After a third place finish in the Conference USA outdoor 400 meters as a sophomore and a second place finish a year ago, Larissa Bakasa is expected to challenge for the conference title in the quartermile and is a potential national qualifier in her senior year.
  • A former IAAF Zimbabwean Junior Athlete of the Year, Bakasa is also expected to run a leg on the Frogs' 4x400 meter relay team.

    2003

  • Specialized in the 400 meters during both the indoor and outdoor seasons... also ran on the Frogs' 4x400 meter relay unit.
  • Took first place honors at the Air Force Indoor Classic on February 8, logging a time of 55.70.
  • Placed fourth at the C-USA Indoor Championships with a career-best indoor mark of 55.58.
  • Ran the leadoff leg on TCU's indoor 4x400 meter relay squad which placed third at the conference meet with a time of 3:49.38.
  • Earned all-conference honors with a silver medal in the 400 at the C-USA Outdoor Championships... turned in a time of 53.78 seconds.
  • Ran the leadoff leg on TCU's 4x400 meter relay squad which placed third at the conference meet with a time of 3:41.34.
  • Competed at the Midwest Region meet in the 400... turned in her career-best time of 53.52 seconds during the prelims to advance to the finals... placed eighth at the region meet with a time of 54.71.

    2002

  • Competed in both the open quarter and on the 4x400 relay squad.
  • Turned in her best indoor time of the season at the C-USA Championships, posting a 57.36 clocking for a fifth place finish.
  • Ran the leadoff leg on the 4x400 meter relay squad which placed third at the conference indoor championships with a time of 3:46.42.
  • Won the TCU Invitational 400 meters with a time of 55.07.
  • Placed third in the C-USA outdoor 400 meters with a time of 53.80.
  • Ran the leadoff leg on the 4x400 meter relay unit that won the TCU Invitational in 3:40.85.
  • Ran the leadoff leg on the 4x4 quartet that set a school record and posted an NCAA provisional mark with a 3:37.77 mark at the Conference USA Outdoor meet, good for a second place finish.

    2001

  • Quartermiler posted her best indoor time of 56.84 at the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas.
  • Turned in her best time during the outdoor season at the WAC Championships with a mark of 54.92 to place fifth.

  • Ran the leadoff leg on TCU's 4x4 relay team... the unit finished second at the indoor conference meet with a time of 3:49.19 and placed third at the WAC outdoor meet with an NCAA provisional time of 3:38.85.

    High School

  • Graduated from Eaglesvale High in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2000... high school coach was Dave Gardner.
  • Represented Zimbabwe on the national junior and senior teams, competing in the 200, 400, long jump and 4x400 relay.
  • Set the Zimbabwe high school national record at 400 meters with a time of 55.08.
  • Lettered four times in track, three times in cross country and twice in swimming & diving.
