FORT WORTH, Texas – Current TCU swimmers Maria Paula Alvarez and Edgar Crespo, alongside former Horned Frog Alejandro Gomez, competed this week at the 16th Annual Bolivarian Games in Sucre, Bolivia. While the events run from Nov. 12-26, the swimming portion of the Games took place Nov. 15-18.

Crespo picked up a pair of medals for his native country of Panama, taking gold in the 50-breast (29.20) and silver honors in the 100-breast (1:03.84). Crespo’s gold medal serves as the only top finish for Panama to this point in the Games. The Panama City product also competed in the 200-breast (2:30.85) and 50-fly (25.72), finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Crespo also highlighted his week as the flag bearer for Panama.

Alvarez, a distance freestyler, competed for Colombia this week. After taking fourth place honors in the 400-free with a time of 4:43.03, the Cali, Colombia native earned a sixth place finish in the 800-free at 9:51.87.
