FORT WORTH – TCU swimming and diving coach Richard Sybesma announced the 2010-11 schedule Thursday, with the Horned Frog women set to kick off the season Oct. 8.
“We have a tougher schedule this year that I think will help make the men’s and women’s teams stronger as the season builds,” Sybesma said. “The men will get a great challenge with the opportunity to face last year’s national champion in Texas.”
The women’s team travels the short trip to Mansfield, Texas on Oct. 8 to compete at the North Texas Relays. Both teams will be action Oct. 10 for the UTPB Tent event in Odessa, Texas.
The Frog men begin their Mountain West Conference dual-season title defense on Oct. 22 with the first of seven home meets for the Frog teams at the University Recreation Center.
Air Force is the first opponent on the MWC dual schedule for the Frog men, who have won seven-straight duals against league opponents dating back to spring of 2009. A year ago, the Frogs went 5-0 on their way to the MWC regular season championship.
On Oct. 23, the TCU swimming and diving teams host the annual varsity alumni meet at the URC.
The Frog women are set to be in action in four duals throughout the month of November, including three duals in Fort Worth. They begin the conference schedule Nov. 5 against Air Force before battling San Diego State the next day.
The only road trip of November consists of the men’s and women’s squads traveling to Laramie, Wyo., on Nov. 19 to face Wyoming.
Numerous individual meets are throughout the schedule, including the U.S. Short Course Nationals and Long Course Time Trials on Dec. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio.
The squads also make their first trip to Oklahoma City on Dec. 18 and 19 for the Chesapeake Invite before breaking for the Christmas holiday.
The men and women’s teams host three events in January, closing out the conference and home season with duals against New Mexico and BYU on Jan. 28.
After a trip to Shreveport, La., to face Centenary College on Feb. 5, the Horned Frogs make their second trip of the season to Oklahoma City for the MWC Championships from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26.
The TCU divers travel to Austin, Texas, for the NCAA Diving Zone Meet from March 12-14. The NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships are set for the weekend of March 17-19 in Austin.
The NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships are March 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
