BEIJING, China -- TCU incoming freshman Edgar Crespo topped five other swimmers turn in the top time of the second heat of the men's 100-breastroke (1:03.72), however his time did not qualify him to advance to the semifinals at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Representing his native country of Panama, Crespo could not crack the top-16 times to move on.

The Panama City, Panama native has also competed at multiple world championships, including the Pan-American Games and South American Games. Crespo will swim in the breaststroke, sprint and butterfly events for the Horned Frogs.

"Edgar is our second swimmer to compete in the Olympic Games," head coach Richard Sybesma said. "We are excited for him and can't wait for him to be a part of our program."

Crespo is only the second Horned Frog swimmer to compete in any Olympic Games, along with former TCU All-American Walter Soza, who swam for Nicaragua in the 1996 Atlanta Games in the 200-IM, 400-IM and the 200-fly.
