Robinson Earns Big 12 Weekly Honor
Jan. 8, 2014
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU junior Cooper Robinson has been named the Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 6, the conference announced today. It is the first Big 12 weekly honor of the season for the Horned Frogs and the second career honor for Robinson.
A native of Katy, Texas, Robinson scored 22 points for the Horned Frogs – 14 in individual events and eight in relay competition – in a two-day dual with Missouri State on Dec. 14-15. He posted TCU’s top individual finishes in the 50 and 200 backstroke with a 23.68 and 1:47.69, respectively.
Robinson was the first Big 12 Champion in program history, winning the 200 backstroke at last year’s Big 12 Championships. He set the school record in the 200 backstroke earlier this season with an NCAA “B” cut 1:42.50 while also combining in the 200 medley relay to tie the school standard with a 1:28.17.
Robinson and the Horned Frogs return to action tomorrow, January 9, when they dual with Manhattan College as part of their winter break training in Miami, Fla.
