H2O Frogs Finish Third At Hilton-TYR Rice Invitational

Houston, Texas - The TCU women's swimming and diving team finished in third place at the Hilton-TYR Rice Invitational this weekend in Houston, Texas. The Horned Frogs finished with 460 team points, while the host school Rice won the event with 547 points.
Sophomore Erica Tate led the way for TCU as she won a pair of individual events on the weekend. On Friday night in the 100-yard freestyle, Tate finished with a time of 52.13 seconds to claim the top spot. She followed it up with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle on Saturday afternoon when she posted a time of 23.96 seconds.
The sophomore was also was a member of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays that finished first and second, respectively. In the 200-relay, Tate teamed with freshman Emily Duerringer, senior Aimee Moreau and junior Leann Cathcart to win with a time of 1:36.57. In the 400-relay, sophomore Tara Sullivan, Moreau, sophomore Karen Sandifer and Tate were the runner-ups when they finished the event with a time of 3:30.70.
Freshman Keilah Walker followed up her strong dual meet performance against Houston with another solid showing for the Frogs as she claimed a pair of runner-up finishes. Walker finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.50 seconds to beat her previous best time by more than six seconds and she posted a time of 10:29.38 in the 1000-yard freestyle to claim second place.
Next weekend, the men and women will return to action when they travel to Louisiana for duals against Louisiana-Monroe and Centenary. The team will face the Indians on Friday and the Gents on Saturday.
