OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships on Saturday, as the men's squad finished fifth and the women's team earned a sixth-place showing.

The TCU seniors on the men's side closed out the conference meet in style, as all three went on to medal in their respective events. Jonathon Berrettini set a personal best in the 200-back event with a time of 1:47.95 to place third, followed by freshman Jeff Gettel in eighth with a time of 1:49.68.

In the 100-free, senior Scott McCracken swam to a third-place finish with a clocking of 44.88, while Josh Bagby also turned in a stellar performance with a fifth-place showing (45.07).

Cameron Allred, a senior from Fort Worth, turned in a blistering time of 2:00.54 to earn third place in the 200-breast event. The time currently ranks second in TCU history. Ben Biefnes also competed in the event, placing 14th with a time of 2:06.11.

Three Frogs competed in the 200-fly, as Jason Hauck (1:52.02), Edgar Peyro (1:52.72) and Garrett Weaver (1:53.21) finished 10th, 11th and 13th, respectively.

The 400-medley relay team of Bagby, Berrettini, McCracken and Jeff Hendricks recorded a clocking of 2:58.16 to claim the title. The NCAA 'B' cut time shattered the old school record of 3:00.41.

Jennifer Ferguson provided the top finish on the women's side Saturday, placing second in the platform dive with a score of 213.60.

Sophomore Stephanie Futscher turned in a solid performance in the 200-fly event, recording a time of 2:04.99 to finish in sixth place. Futscher led the team during the season with seven events wins.

Senior Katie Rosen competed in the 200-breast event, posting a time of 2:19.98 to finish 10th. The time currently ranks fifth in TCU history.

In the 200-back, Cheryl Townsend finished 11th with a time of 2:04.10, while Samantha Smith followed in 12th spot with a personal-best time of 2:04.72.

The 400-free relay team of Maria Alvarez, Meredith Grubb, Brittney Martinez and Mychala Lynch posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 3:33.64.
