TCU Rifle Earns Seven All-American Honors
March 15, 2013
FORT WORTH - Four members of TCU's rifle team were honored as CRCA All-Americans. Sarah Beard and Sarah Scherer were honored for the fourth consecutive season in both smallbore and air rifle. For Scherer, 2012-13 put her in elite company as she was honored as a first-team All-American in both smallbore and air rifle, an honor she received all four years. She is the 10th student-athlete to have accomplished this since the Rifle All-American award was created by the National Rifle Association in 1936. Beard was an All-American in both disciplines as well for the fourth time in her career. It marked the second consecutive season she was honored as a first-team All-American. For the second straight season, Caitlin Morrissey was tabbed an All-American in both smallbore and air rifle. She was an honorable mention honoree in smallbore and a second-team performer in air rifle. Megan Lee was honored as a smallbore second-team All-American. In a banquet hosted by the National Rifle Association, all three seniors were recognized for earning All-American honors in each year of their careers.
