FORT WORTH, Texas- The TCU woman's rifle team is in search of their first national champions this weekend in West Point, N.Y. at the NCAA National Rifle Championship. The team is competing amongst the best in the country including Nebraska, West Virginia, Nevada and defending champions, Alaska-Fairbanks. TCU has seen a great amount of success this season and will rely on past experience as it makes its second straight appearance at the championships.

In their last match, the Frogs edged Nevada in the NCAA qualifier by a score of 4,627-4,626. The win extended the team's winning streak to six, but more importantly got the team to where it is today, competing for a national championship. The Purple and White have a tight-knit group of shooters that will carry a lot of momentum with them to New York.

The team also will be facing some familiar foes during the match. The Frogs are no strangers to the field of eight as they have faced almost all of the teams competing in the championships within the last two years. This year, the team fell to Alaska-Fairbanks early in the season by a score of 4,653-4,627. However, the team has tasted victory against Nevada and Nebraska, both of which were contenders in last year's national championship.

Alaska-Fairbanks returns in hopes of defending last year's national championship. However, with the momentum that TCU brings into this week's match, the Frogs will hope to rise to the top and return to Fort Worth with a national championship.

The competition begins on March 14th in West Point, N.Y.
