Fort Worth, TEXAS- The woman's rifle team narrowly escaped with a win on Saturday in their last regular season match against the Nevada Wolfpack. The win helped solidify the Frogs' position in the national championship competition in March. The Frogs extended their winning streak to six, posting an aggregate score of 4,627. The Wolfpack trailed by only one point with an aggregate of 4,626.

In air rifle, Erin Lorenzen highlighted the match by firing a 586, which landed her in second place. Simone Riford rounded out the top five with a strong score of 583. Other notable air rifle performances included Lauren Sullivan and Emily Paper who both shot a 581. The Wolfpack, however, claimed the air rifle competition by only six points with a score of 2337.

A strong outing in smallbore helped the Frogs turned the heat up with Paper and Lorenzen claiming the top two finishes with scores of 578 and 576, respectively. Simone Riford finished fourth in smallbore, tallying 575 points. Sullivan and Tanya Gorin also finished in the top ten. Sullivan fired a 567 and Gorin finished with a score of 565.

Individual honors went to Erin Lorenzen who finished the match in first place with an aggregate score of 1162. Emily Paper trailed Lorenzen by only three points for second place with an aggregate of 1159. Sophomore, Simone Riford settled in fourth overall with a sturdy score of 1158. Lauren Sullivan found herself in ninth place overall by firing a score of 1148.

The triumph over Nevada was important going into the post season. Earlier in the year, TCU traveled to Reno and finished the match tied. The aggregate score of the qualifier match also plays a factor into how the team will be seeded when they travel to West Point, N.Y. in hunt for the national championship. Last year the Frogs finished the season tied for fifth with Nebraska.
