Fort Worth, TEXAS- The woman's rifle team defeated UTEP this past weekend to earn its fifth straight victory. As a team, the Frogs shot an aggregate score of 4640 to record the win. Only eight points separated the Frogs, who claimed four of the top five individual aggregate scores, from the Miners.

Erin Lorenzen and Lauren Sullivan highlighted the competition in air rifle. Lorenzen won air rifle with a strong score of 591. Second place went to Sullivan, who shot a 587. Emily Paper and Simone Riford finished the air rifle competition in third (586) and fourth (585), respectively.

Another strong performance in smallbore helped the Frogs secure the victory. The Purple and White occupied four of the top five finishing spots in smallbore, led by Paper, who shot a 578 to finish in second place. The other shooters who rounded out the top five in smallbore were Lauren Sullivan (573), Simone Riford (571), and Erin Lorenzen (569). Sullivan, Riford and Lorenzen finished third, fourth and fifth, respectivly.

Tanya Gorin also faired well in El Paso, firing a 565 in air rifle and a 554 in smallbore.

The Frogs now take aim at their last competition of the regular season, the NRA Sectionals/NCAA qualifier at home in Fort Worth, Texas. The match is slated for Feb. 16.
