Rifle Drops Decision to UMKC
Dec. 9, 2002
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - TCU rifle ended the most successful fall season in school history on a down note, dropping a dual meet to UMKC Saturday afternoon in Kansas City. The Kangaroos outscored the Horned Frogs 4,498-4,399 in the smallbore and tallied 1,506 in the air rifle to defeat both the TCU Purple (1,471) and White (1,342) squads. The Horned Frogs were led in the smallbore by freshman Sherri Gallagher (Prescott, Ariz./Prescott Christian). Gallagher tallied 1,145 points to place second behind UMKC's Calee Courter's 1,149 output. In the air rifle, senior Jessica Green (Lufkin, Texas/Homeschool) paced the Frogs with a score of 372, good for fourth overall. TCU was without one of its top shooters, as freshman school record-holder Celeste Green (Lufkin, Texas/Hewitt) was unable to make the trip to the Show-Me State due to a back injury. With the conclusion of the fall season, the Frogs will be out of action for more than a month. TCU returns to competition on January 25, 2003 when it travels to El Paso to take on UTEP.
