Rifle picks up second place finish at Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The TCU women's rifle team earned a second place finish behind Nebraska in a match that took place in Colorado Springs, Colo. For the second-straight match, the Frogs were paced by four freshmen. Erin Lorenzen finished third in the air rifle portion of the meet, while Lauren Sullivan finished third in the smallbore. The Frogs had four of the top eight finisher's in the air rifle, but fell to Nebraska by a 2,346-2,326 score. Lorenzen was the top scorer for the Frogs with a total of 585 points. Emily Paper (582), Sullivan (580) and Simone Riford (579) finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Also shooting in the event were Nikki LeCompte, who shot a 575 and Tanya Gorin with a score of 564. The four freshmen were the top TCU finisher's in the smallbore as well. Nebraska came away with the 2,315-2,290 victory. Sullivan finished third with a score of 577, while Lorenzen placed fifth, shooting 575 in the contest. Paper was sixth with a score of 575 and Riford rounded out the Frogs scorers with a 570 in seventh place. Gorin shot a 568 in the event, while LeCompte finished with a score of 556. Nebraska edged the Frogs with an aggregate score of 4,661, while TCU amassed 4,616 points.
