Rifle picks up second place finish at West Point

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's rifle team earned a second place finish behind Army in a match that took place in West Point, N.Y. The young squad was once again led by a four freshman, which helped the team post an aggregate score of 4,621. Three points decided the air rifle portion of the meet as Army claimed the 2,342-2,339 victory. Erin Lorenzen shot a personal-best 590 to claim her third win in the event this season. Finishing in fourth place was Lauren Sullivan with a score of 587 and in seventh, Simone Riford with a 582. Rounding out TCU's top-10 finisher's were Nikki LeCompte in ninth with a 582 and Emily Paper in tenth with a score of 580. Tanya Gorin finished 14th in the event with a 575. Simone Riford led the Frogs with a second place finish in the smallbore with a score of 577. Sullivan earned a sixth-place finish with a score of 575, followed by Lorenzen in eighth with a score of 569. Also shooting in the event were Gorin (566), Paper (561) and LeCompte (558). Army edged the Frogs with an aggregate score of 4,642, while TCU amassed 4,621 points.
