Rifle Scores Another Record-Breaking Victory

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle squad continued its record-breaking season with another impressive showing as they took top honors at the four team tournament hosted by The Citadel. The Frogs established a new aggregate record as they fired a combined 4,669. The score demolished the field as second-placed Ole Miss shot a score of 4,578. Sarah Scherer was consistent in both events as she claimed top honors in both smallbore (586) and air rifle (592). Her aggregate score of 1,178 is a new school record. Caitlin Morrisey had an aggregate score of 1,170 after firing a 581 in smallbore and a 589 in air rifle. Scherer's mark in smallbore set a new personal best as she paced a Frogs attack that saw them walk away with a first place finish after firing a 2,307. Morrissey's tally of 581 tied her personal best as she took home second place honors. Erin Lorenzen came in third with a score of 579. Close behind Scherer's first-place total of 592 in air rifle was Simone Riford who shot a 591 in the event. Mattie Brogdon set a personal best as she shot a 590, tying with Lorenzen in the event. Morrissey rounded out the top five with a score of 589. TCU returns home next weekend to take on Nebraska. Saturday's match will take place at the University Rec Center. Results:
