Rifle Ends Fall Slate With Record-Breaking Performance at Army
Nov. 15, 2001
WEST POINT, N.Y. - For the second time in less than a month, TCU's rifle team broke the school air rifle record, notching a 1,465 at Army last weekend. However, the effort was not enough to overtake the host Black Knights, who took the title with a mark of 1,518. The Horned Frogs' point total bested their previous record of 1,453 set on October 28 in Memphis. Individually, senior Stacy Phillips (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown) led TCU with a career-high 372, good for a tie for fifth place overall. Teammates Jessica Green (Lufkin, Texas/Homeschool) and Leticia Marquez (Alamo, Texas/Donna) were right behind, carding scores of 370 and 368, respectively. Like Phillips, Marquez's mark was a career best. Senior Jennifer Heim (Altoona, Iowa/Grand Island) rounded out the Horned Frog scoring, notching a 355. The impressive showing marked the conclusion of the fall portion of TCU's schedule. The Frogs return to action on January 26, 2002 at Air Force.
