TCU is victorious in first match of season

Fort Worth, Texas - The TCU women's rifle team kicked off its season with a win over Nevada and UTEP at the 16th annual Horned Frog Invitational. The Frogs picked up right where they left off last season, claiming victories in both air rifle and small bore. The team defeated the Wolfpack 4627-4582 and the Miners 4627-4573. Sophomore Erin Lorenzen led the Frogs with a score of 587 in air rifle, followed closely by sophomores Emily Paper and Simone Riford who shot a 582 and 581, respectively. Lauren Sullivan had a strong performance with a score of 579. In small bore, sophomore Simone Riford led the charge with a score of 581. Her score was also the highest individual score of the event. Emily Paper shot a 574 while Lauren Sullivan and Erin Lorenzen turned in scores of 573 and 570. All three of these performances helped the team in their pursuit of victory. The top three individual performances featured veteran shooters, Simone Riford with a score of 1162, Erin Lorenzen with 1157 points, and Emily Paper finished third overall with an impressive score of 1156. The Horned Frogs will look to continue their success when they head to Jacksonville State on Oct. 5.
