Alejandro Gomez Swimming and Diving Senior Caracas, Venezuela At the UNLV Winter Invitational, Gomez tallied three top-five finishes, leading the men in each event. In the 500-free event on Saturday, Gomez recorded a time of 4:33.47 to place third out of 24 competitors. Gomez swam to a second place finish in the 1650-free while recording the school’s second-best time of 15:37.45. The Caracas, Venezuela, native also contributed in the relay events for the Frogs, leading the men to third place finishes in the 400- and 800-free relays.

Cheryl Townsend Swimming and Diving Sophomore Pietermaritzburg, South Africa Cheryl Townsend led the TCU women in five events at the UNLV Winter Invitational, all of which were top-five finishes. In the first day of competition, Townsend placed fourth in the 500-free with a time of 5:03.99, and finished third in the 200-IM in a clocking of 2:08.35. On Sunday, Townsend picked up another third place finish, swimming the 400-IM in a time of 4:28.11. Townsend racked up two more top-five finishes on Monday, with a third place showing in the 1650-free (17:19.75) and a fourth place finish in the 200-back (2:06.13).
