Pink Out promotion raises $16,000 for Fort Worth breast cancer patients
Dec. 5, 2005 FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's Pink Out promotion, held at the Nov. 5 home football game with Colorado State and coordinated by the campus community, raised $16,000 for Fort Worth breast cancer patients. Through its partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, TCU provided the second-largest Komen fundraiser in Fort Worth next to the Race for the Cure. It was also the largest survivor event ever held in Fort Worth. The funds were generated from ticket sales for the game purchased through the local Komen office as well as proceeds from Pink Out T-shirt and hat sales at the TCU Bookstore. TCU athletics director Danny Morrison and TCU Bookstore general manager Llisa Lewis will present a $16,000 check to local officials from the Susan G. Komen Tarrant County Affiliate on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the John Justin Athletic Center on the TCU campus. Media and the public are invited to attend. Seventy-five percent of funds raised locally are used in Tarrant County to assist breast cancer patients. |
