Texas A&M Defeats TCU in Men's Swimming

Fort Worth (Nov. 10) -- Individual victories by Ryan Mammarella and Clint Barghi, along with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, highlighted an otherwise tough day for the TCU men's swimming team in a 137.5 to 107.5 dual meet loss to national power Texas A&M Wednesday night at Rickel Natatorium on the TCU campus in Fort Worth.

The Aggies, who finished 10th as a team at last year's NCAA Championships, won 10 of 13 events overall to take the victory over the Horned Frogs who returned home after an emotional road victory at Notre Dame last weekend.

I was pleased with the way we performed, especially in light of the emotional victory over the weekend and the stature of the team we competed against tonight, said TCU head coach Richard Sybesma. We knew we had our work cut out for us tonight and we had a little bit of an emotional letdown after a very significant victory at Notre Dame. But, considering the circumstances, this was a good meet for us.

Alfred Mansour (200 free and 50 free) and David Morrow (100 butterfly and 50 butterfly) both won two events to lead Texas A&M. Mammarella picked up a victory for TCU in the 500 freestyle and Barghi won the 400 individual medley to lead the Horned Frogs.

The TCU men's team continues its season in a triangular meet with Louisiana-Monroe and Delta State in Monroe, Louisiana, on Saturday, Nov. 20.
