YOUR VOICE IS HEARD >
LOUD AND PROUD Two of the more crucial and exciting moments in any football game are the opening kickoff and the start of the second half. With the new club and suite amenities, as well as the unique tailgating options around the stadium, we realize it is sometimes difficult to get to your seats quickly. However, we ask that you please make the extra effort to arrive at the game early or be back in your seats to cheer on our young team at kickoff. We know our football student-athletes and coaches appreciate having a decided home-field advantage in the Big 12. Please be loud and help ensure our stadium continues to have a hostile environment for opposing teams. However, remember to keep things classy. You are representing TCU.
ON THE DOCKET We hope to see many of you at Baylor on Saturday for our 6 p.m. football game. Before making the trip to Waco, stop by the Rec Center and catch our volleyball team in action as it hosts Kansas State on Saturday at 1 p.m. If you're in Oklahoma, you can see our soccer team play at Oklahoma State on Friday night at 7 and on Sunday at Oklahoma at 1 p.m. Cross country returns to action Saturday at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. MEET THE STAFF Chris Hall, our assistant athletics director for sports medicine, is one of the true veterans of our athletics program. He's now in his 29th year as a member of our athletic training staff and ninth year as the director. Taking over for current associate athletics director T. Ross Bailey in 2003, Chris became just the second director of sports medicine in TCU's history. He oversees the athletic training support for our nearly 450 student-athletes. His peers recognized his work when he was recently presented the prestigious Athletic Training Service Award. With his bachelor's and master's degrees, Chris is a two-time TCU graduate. His wife, the former Becky Brill, was a Horned Frog swimmer who was inducted into the TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame in 2008. They have three children: Katie, Ryan and Jared. Ryan is following in mom's footsteps and is a sophomore on our swimming and diving team.
SPANNING THE GLOBE This week's edition of TCU supporters flashing the Horned Frog sign and apparel from all points worldwide comes from Fred Hosey `66, when he was in Wittenberg, Germany, in July 2011. Fred is seen telling Martin Luther's wife, Katie, all about the Horned Frogs. Please continue to send me (delconte@tcu.edu) your images. These are fun to share.
COMPLIANCE CORNER The NCAA legislation states that student-athletes cannot receive a benefit, gift or service that is not available to a member of the general population. This is the definition of an extra benefit. Student-athletes are educated throughout the year on what items or services might or might not violate this legislation. A business that runs specials (e.g. 2-for-1 meals) may give the same deal to student-athletes as long as the deciding criteria for an individual receiving this deal is not their athletics status. For example, a business wishing to hold a promotion where all TCU freshmen receive a buy-one-get-one free special may give this deal to student-athletes as long as those student-athletes are freshmen at TCU. KEEP IN TOUCH Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails. Go Frogs!
