FORT WORTH - Senior volleyball player Sloane Suntrum and sophomore football player Brandon Carter are named TCU’s athletes of the week for their outstanding performance within their sporting events.
Sunstrum, an outside hitter from Southlake, Texas, had 11 kills against West Virginia as the Frogs dug out of a 0-2 hole. Her kills were one off from a season-high and it is the sixth time she has had double-digit kills this season. She chipped in eight digs in her outside position and assisted on three blocks to give her a team-best 16.5 points for the match.
Carter, a wide receiver from Euless, Texas, made an impressive one-handed catch then ran untouched into the end zone against Virginia Saturday. Carter had five catches for 128 yards, his second consecutive 100-yard receiving game, and one touchdown. Carter made yet another one-handed play, turning a short pass into a 43-yard gain to Virginia’s 3-yard line.
Sunstrum plays at home this Wednesday against Texas Tech and Carter plays against the SMU Mustangs in Dallas on Saturday.
