FORT WORTH, Texas -- Baseball standout
Chad Huffman and women's golfer
Catherine Matranga have been named TCU's Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Week for April 9.
Huffman batted .615 (8-for-13) as TCU went 4-0 on the week, including an 18-8 victory over No. 22 Baylor. Huffman went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs in the win versus the Bears.
Also a quarterback on the TCU football team, Huffman was 4-of-9 (.444) in the Frogs' three-game weekend sweep of Air Force. The Missouri City, Texas, native is in the midst of a 19-game hitting streak.
Matranga led the No. 36 TCU women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Northwestern Invitational in Rancho Mirage, Calif. It was the Frogs' fifth top-five finish in their last seven tournaments.
A junior from Fort Worth, Matranga tied for 14th individually with a 4-over-par 220.
