FT. WORTH, Texas - A pair of sprinters from the TCU track and field team have been selected athletes of the week as senior Lewis Banda received his first weekly recognition, while sophomore Virgil Hodge picked up her second of the season.

Banda posted a pair of NCAA regional qualifying marks en route to setting a new all-time Mountain West Conference record at the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational in Arlington, Texas, last week.

The senior claimed the gold in the 400 meters with a 46.22, a new MWC all-time mark. Later in the day, he recorded a runner-up finish (20.81) in the 200 meters for his second regional qualifying time of the outdoor season in the event.

At last week's Bobby Lane UTA Invitational, Hodge turned in two regional qualifying marks. She won the 100 meters with a time of 11.33, making it the second straight meet she has won the 100 meters in the 2006 outdoor season.

Hodge placed second in the 200 meters with a 23.35.
