FORT WORTH – TCU’s Big 12 men’s swimming champion Cooper Robinson and Zahna Medley have been named TCU Athletes of the Week for their big wins over the weekend.
Robinson, a sophomore from Katy, became the TCU swimming and diving programs first Big 12 champion with his win in the men’s 200 back. The victory completed a very successful weekend for Robinson that also included a fourth place finish in the men’s 200 IM and a fifth place effort in the 100 back.
Medley, a freshman from Springfield, Ill., led the Horned Frogs women’s basketball team to its second win over a ranked opponent in over 10 days. Against No. 23 Iowa State, Medley posted 18 points, including 11 of TCU’s final 13 points of the first half as TCU took down the Cyclones 61-58.
Robinson will still have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships, starting this weekend at the All-American Meet in Austin. Medley and the Horned Frogs make their debut at the Big 12 Championships against Kansas Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
