TCU Names Abadie Equipment Manager
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (March 6, 2001) -- Rich Abadie has been named equipment manager at TCU, according to Horned Frogs Athletics Director Eric Hyman.
Abadie, 35, joins the Horned Frogs staff after serving in the same capacity at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville since January of 1994. His duties at TCU will include maintenance, outfitting student-athletes and the inventory and requisitioning of various Horned Frog athletic equipment.
Abadie joined the United States Army following his graduation from high school, receiving an honorable discharge in 1985. He served as a student assistant on the athletic equipment staff while attending Louisiana State University, rising to head student athletic equipment manager prior to his graduation from the Southeastern Conference school in 1991. He then joined the staff at Virginia as an Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager and held that position until he was promoted to Head Athletic Equipment Manager in 1994.
Abadie has been a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association since 1991 and has served as the AEMA District II President since 1997.
Abadie and his wife, Julie, have two children, Beau 21 months, and Lilly, one month.
