We will have a 6 p.m. kickoff for our Sept. 8 season opener with Grambling State at Amon G. Carter Stadium. I know the next question will be the television plans for that game. We'll know very soon as we're currently waiting on the Big 12 TV contract to be finalized. We appreciate your patience with this process.

Keep an eye on your mailbox as football season tickets were sent today. If you requested to pick them up at will call, they will be available beginning Monday, Aug. 13, in our Athletics Ticket Office in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After last week's orders through our wait list option, our new record-breaking season-ticket total is now 31,237. Remember, this does not include the 5,000 tickets set aside for TCU students. Thank you Horned Frogs!
Now that we've hit August on the calendar, the debut seasons for all our sports in the Big 12 are truly just around the corner. Our soccer program, under the direction of first-year head coach Eric Bell, is officially our first team to open preseason camp. In fact, their first practice was held this afternoon. Football reports Sunday, and volleyball reports Tuesday.
Don't forget that we will begin taking football ticket orders for those fans on our wait list. Group 1 begins Monday, July 30. Please contact our athletics ticket office at (817) 257-FROG (3764) if you have any questions about the process or which group you're in. As a reminder, the seats you purchase are for the 2012 season only. You will be guaranteed season tickets in 2013 but not the same seat location.
A very special and unique opportunity, involving the best football coach in America and a true Texas legend, is planned for TCU and college football fans in general on Thursday, July 19. Gary Patterson, cover subject of the 2012 Dave Campbell's Texas Football, will join Mr. Campbell from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Albertsons on Bryant Irvin and Oakmont in Fort Worth to sign your copy of this summer's edition.
As I was working out in our Physical Performance Center this morning, it was energizing to see how hard our student-athletes from all sports are preparing for their upcoming seasons. Our fall sports will be here before you know it. Soccer will be the first team to report on Aug. 1. We'll then have football on Aug. 5 and volleyball on Aug. 7.
I hope you and your family have a great and safe holiday. Our campus will be closed Wednesday but will reopen Thursday.

We'll also have our cheerleaders, Showgirls, SuperFrog and the Frog Horn on hand. The evening will also provide an opportunity to purchase co-branded TCU and Big 12 merchandise.

NATIONAL CHAMPION AGAIN
How about Whitney Gipson winning another national championship in the long jump! Congratulations to a very special TCU graduate. Whitney received her degree in broadcast journalism last month and actually competed at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as an alumna. She also won the national title in the long jump at the indoor championships. It's now on to the Olympic trials for Whitney as she looks to secure her spot in London.
